Talking i need help and Hello, old but new member from Los Angeles!!

Hello all,

Ive had my 04 Acura TL (Base Navi) for 2 years going on 3.

I been having this issue with my car feeling sluggish (poor acceleration) when i drive. Been going on for about 1 month i believe and i recently cleaned out the EGR Valve and i did see a little improvement but its still there..

i have done:
-Spark Plugs
-Clean Throttle Body
-Clean EGR Valve

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

hello David!
it will be SUPER hard to help you because "feeling poor acceleration" is hard to prove online over the internet.

when you cleaned out the EGR valve, did it have carbon debris in it?

I know this will be hard but any other suggestions? My oil change is about to be up.. would that cause it to have poor acceleration?

Yes there was carbon debris, but just mild.

low oil can cause poor acceleration up in the higher RPMs, as vtec is controlled by the flow of oil
but generally the life span of oil does not cause poor acceleration.

I checked the oil last Saturday and it seems fine and doesn't look dirty or smell burnt.

I'll update on this after i do my oil change and see if there is any different.

Should i keep 5w-20 or switch it with 5w-30?

the 20 or 30 refers to temperature I believe. 30 will be thicker, and 20 is the recommended one as per the manual. However, many ppl have used different variances

Stick with whatever is in the manual. No need to change it up if it ain't broke.
