I just put a big hole in my leather seat...

I just set a box of electronic equipment in the back seat of my car and didnt notice it had a little sharp spike sticking out of the bottom and it punched a hole into my leather backseat! Its a little bigger than a pencil eraser. I know, I know, I should have put it in my trunk, blah blah blah, but its too late now. I see a crap load of leather repair kits online but I wanted to check here first to see if anyone has used anything they really liked. Ive got to get this thing patched before it gets any worse and I've never done it before. Any advice on what to use?

Certainly sorry to hear this, but accidents happen. There are leather repair instructions on the net using a leather patch on the underside, then leather glue. Although it will secure the piece in place, it will not entirely eliminate the defect from a visual perceptive.

So I need to be able to get to the underside of my seat you think? I dont know how Im going to be able to do that...I was hoping I could repair it without taking out my backseat.

Anyone else had to repair their seats? I was hoping I didnt have to do this blindly but from the lack of replies its looking im the only one who has torn their leather

By the time you buy the kit, and probably get less than steller results since you've never done it before, just take it to an upholstry shop. For a small repair it shouldn't be that much money.

you are not alone-my husband had a sharp object in his back pocket which scratched the back of the driver's seat. (deep scratches). Luckily being friends with a acura service manager I had the covering replaced free.

I didn't know they could replace the entire covering...that's interesting. Anyone know what something like that would cost? I imagine its ridiculously expensive. My front drivers seat is starting to show some signs of cracking too and I was wondering what my options were. Im kind of a perfectionist I guess. I need to make friends with the folks at the Acura service shop it sounds like

the cracking is normal for leather, however I'd replace it later on near 90K or so along with new foam if you plan on keeping the car for a long time. As far as the hole, you don't need to take it out to fix it. Using tweezers, you have to put a sticky pad underneath the hole and then put the leather back on it. It's sorta like taping it up from underneath, and then some leather filler stuff goes on top to make it a bit better.

I've never done it myself, but I'd suggest a pro do it.

If your keeping the car I wouldn't worry about it to much. I would take it to a pro when and if you decide to get it fixed though.
