You can't do this with certain types of dents.

If the dent is just a dent, this will work most of the time. However, if the dent has a crease in it, this won't be strong enough to work.

Pull the bumper out and push the dent out from the backside. The downside is you may have to repaint. As for the heat/cool method, i doubt it would work on plastic.
