How much should I expect to pay for Timing belt, water pump, valve adj in South Fl?

Hey all,

My 04 TL is coming up on 107k miles and I know the service warning is gonna pop up soon so I am trying to price out how much this is gonna cost me.

I would like to do the timing belt, water pump, drive belts, tensioners and pulleys, and a valve adjustment

(I have oil leaking from the valve cover and am also getting noise from the valves in the morning when the car is warming up).

One local mechanic is quoting me $787 incl parts for the timing belt kit and $349 for the valve adjustment NOT including parts.

I thought it sounded pricey. For that much I might just take it to a dealer. I'm gonna start pricing them tomorrow actually, but would like to know, what do you guys think?

Also, do any of you know of a good mechanic or dealer I can try in the South Florida area?

Much thanks.

That's pretty cheap actually. I'd say go for it.

The TB job sounds decent but the valve job sounds really expensive...

I called around and Coral Springs Honda has a 20% off coupon on their website (that expired in dec, but theyre still honoring) plus, the base price for the service was about the same as the quote I got from the local mechanic to begin with.

They charge $799 minus 20% off = $639. That includes parts and a loaner. None of the other places Ive called can beat that.

Killabee44, that sounds like a good deal. Don't be surprised though if they also find the tensioner leaking that will cost more. Also, word of advice keep watch on your transmission. The 2nd gen (I had a 2003 TL Type-S) are notorious for transmission failures. Good luck!
