How do you know if your heated side mirrors are working?

It was raining yesterday and I didn't notice anything happening with my heated side mirrors on.

What were you expecting?
I'd like to think you'll see them working the morning after freezing temperatures with condensation.

Isn't there a little light on the button when they're on?

Other than that, I'd be looking for frost to melt.

I figured condensation but i thought more....

i thought rain would evaporate as soon as it hit the mirrors. .

Do both mirros automatically get heated or is it contingent upon the left and right switch button to control mirrors as when you go in reverse.

it heats both.
it would be silly to have only one mirror heated based upon the mirror switch.

Consider the functionality exactly the same as the rear window defroster. Doesn't do anything to rain, but helps with fogging as well as melting ice/snow.

Heating the mirrors to the point where water evaporates instantly would take a ridiculous amount of power. They're just enough to barely keep the mirrors from icing up. It won't do anything to water, but typically water does not impact your ability to use the side mirrors.

...this thread exists...

FWIW, why is rain collecting on your side mirrors? You drive in reverse a lot?
