Horn beeps when starting

Anyone knows why my horn will beep two or three time (short beeps) when I start the engine? It started after the B1 service on the MID came on. I've read through the manual and it does not mention anything.

that is odd, I think a bare wire might be touching a ground or something...

Do you have an aftermarket alarm? If so, that's where to start looking. If not, .

I'll know tomorrow after the dealer gets to look at this. No aftermarket alarm. Alarm came with car. No mods done on the car, so I think it's possible that it is a wiring issue.

loose wire inside the steering column where the key tumbles. try keeping the key at the exact position where you hear the horn and see if the horn stays on.

Trew, tried that already. Even tried to leave the key in the ACC position, and the horn gave two or three quick beeps. This is very wierd.

you may have a bad alarm unit where the car forgets that it unlocked itself and when you turn the key on, the alarm then realizes ok, doors unlocked, and it turns off the alarm.

Press the panic button in the daytime when not to many are around, the horn will scream loudly, see if that's the same sequence of beeps with the same timing as that 2-3 quick beeps.

csmeance, I did try that yesterday. Pressed the panic button, but it not the same. the three beeps the horn makes is very soft, compared to the panic button alarm.

I wonder is the number of beeps means a certain problem. Much like the beeps a computer will make to indicate some is wrong. The number of the beeps corresponses to the problem. Or perhaps your car is just happy to see you........

I just dropped the car off at the dealer. Service advisor never seen this problem before. They will look at this issue and also do the B1 service. I'll let you know the outcome of this wierd problem.

well, got the car back. Dealer informed me that there is an aftermarket alarm system in the car, but it was never activated, since I never purchased the alarm system. It seems that the microswitch under the dash was defective.
