"hissssssing" front left side of engine bay

Hey guys, I took my TL out for a drive yesterday and we noticed that there was an unusual hissing in the left side of my engine bay. I sounds like a leaking air hose but everything seems to be intact Example: sounds like when your taking off slowly and your CAI does its little "tsssssssssss" noise. I have a UR stock size pulley and I'm thinking that it may be causing it. Help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Do you have an intake? If you do I'd say with 99% surety that is it. Mine use to make the same sound.

When is it hissing? when the engine is still on or just after you've turned it off?

My car makes the same "hissing" noise. I have an AEM CAI and I had fellow Aziner listen to it this past weekend. I would say that the hissing is 100% coming from the CAI. I notice mine at 1800 - 2900rpm, seems to be a normal thing for those of us that have CAI.

Any car I've had where I took out the resonator 'hissed', I assume thats one reason for its existence. Don't want to frighten those old ladies when they get out of the car

I have a injen intake but its on the opposite side of the engine bay. I'm aware of the CAI hissing and this one is coming from where my pulleys are located.

It hisses from the moment i turn it on (idle, gears, etc) till i turn it off. They intake usually only hisses when in motion

it could be a vacuum leak, squeeze your vacuum lines while car is idleing it will get louder if you squeeze a line with a rip. other then that if the RPM's are constant then i wouldnt worry.

Left or right?? the driver's side would be the left side of the car. the passenger side would be the right. And what is a UR stock size pulley. You replaced your crank pulley with, what, a stock size pulley?? Why? Did you recently install that pulley or do any other work on your car? There's not much air flowing around the passenger side of the engine bay. The intake, as you know is on the driver's side. There are two small covers on the end of the intake manifold runners opposite the throttle body. Either of those covers could be leaking. Does the car run OK?? an intake leak downstream of the TB would cause other problems.

That's what it sounds like, so ill try this out. Everything works perfectly its just that little hiss that had me worried. Thanks!

Look up this link: http://www.unorthodoxracing.com/Item...e=27&Model=171

that's the link to the Underdrive crank pulley. I have the same but in a stock size. It just helps the engine because its easier to spin a lighter pulley than a heavy one. The noise is on the passenger side. And the only other mod is my CAI which is not the problem. The car runs perfectly too, that's the tricky part

yesterday i have my airbox removed and my friend installed a HKS filter...seems like it's making "hissing" noise around 2000 rpm or above. sorry to ask...wat is the CAI?
