high pitched noise from engine bay.
Here is the scenario.
When I am city driving, the rpms rest normally in the mid teens. When I softly press the gas to add speed, the rpms jump to 2000. from 2000 to 2500 I am hearing this noise that is a high pitched squeaking coming from the engine bay. The dealership said i have something called "spark knock". They said to run some octane booster through the gas and that it would go away. After several bottles, the noise is still there. Any suggestions, or a previous thread that addresses this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like what you may be describing is a simple belt squeal? This will often occur when belts have some age on them and it gets colder out. But we really do need some more information to properly help you and bench-guess what the issue is.
And I would try another dealer at the same time. For some reason I get the impression they are giving you the run around. You go in for a squeal in a certain RPM range and they tell you to dump octane booster in it? Weird. Sounds like they were hoping for the placebo effect to happen with you IMHO and hoping at the same time the belts may settle to the new climate? Dont know where you are from either...so dont know the climate in your particular area.

Thanks guys. I am in Fort Worth, so the weather is sporadic at best. But I mostly hear it when is in the 50s or so. My ride is a 05' 3.2 auto tl.
Just got off the phone with the dealership and the tech that gave me that info is now saying that it is not fixable! What a load of crap! He originally said that I got a bad tank of gasoline, and is now saying there is nothing that can be done.
I am going to replace the plugs and fuel filter but I really am starting to think that it has nothing to do with the fuel system and the techs are just stalling to run me out of my warranty period. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks again
