HID Headlight: Just bought a new bulb and the colors don't match
just in case i talked too much below, here are cliffs of the situation:
-replaced passenger side headlight & its not the same color as the driver side. what do i need to do to get the colors to sync?
hello everyone. i am new to this site, just got a new (to me) car, and new to acura.
i just bought a 2006 acura tl 5mt. when i bought it the passenger side headlight was out, but the dealer promised to fix it, and they did. however, the headlight is not the same color as the drivers side.
i have searched the threads and read that hids change color over time, so my question is...assuming that the drivers side headlight is oem from 2006, how long will it take for the new passager side headlight to be the same color? will it be 6 years, or will they never pair up since the time laps will keep rolling over?
Let me also say this. i voiced my opinion with the dealership on how unhappy i was with the 2 headlight colors and i was able to work out that if i bought another bulb they will install it for me free of labor charges. so im not opposed to going down that road either
thanks in advanced.

Everything you have read, learned and stated is 100% true. With that being said my advice and I'm sure I speak for many others on this forum is to just buy a new pair of 5000 or 6000k bulbs and install yourself. Directions are here on this site and can be done in less than 30 mts.
And props on actually using the search function it's appreciated by us all.

sigh*
i was hoping the new headlight would sync after a few hours of burning, but that was just wishful thinking.
with that said i'll just order a new oem bulb. regular halogen bulbs usually burn out at the same time, so i should do this one now while the dealer is paying for the labor.
i also have no idea how to work on cars, so unfortunately i have to pay to get everything fixed.

HID bulbs from high quality manufacturers like Phillips and Osram are typically sold in pairs for exactly this reason. HID bulbs color shift over time, so a new one is unlikely to match one with several hundred hours on it. Even two brand new bulbs might not necessarily match each other perfectly unless they're sold as a pair, in which case they're typically color matched.
I personally would take the opportunity to upgrade to a pair of Phillips 85122+ bulbs. http://www.theretrofitsource.com/pro...roducts_id=148
