HFL Buttons stopped working entirely

I have a 2007 TL, and the HFL has worked great. A couple months ago my battery died, I replaced it with no issues, but ever since then the HFL doesnt work at all. Pressing the buttons on the steering wheel have no effect at all, and my phone doesnt show up as paired anymore.
The strange thing is that since then, on two occasions, the phone icon popped up on the display (the one that shows if a phone is paired), and when I tried the buttons, they worked, and still remembered my phonebook, etc. but each time it only lasted till I turned off the car.

Any ideas on how to fix this? I'm decent mechanically, but dont know much about the electronic side of things. Seriously appreciate any help.

It's dying, needs to be replaced. When it's dying it works intermittently.

There's no fix for this. You'll likely find posts about people putting it in ovens but those are not permanent fixes

Any way to get a new part cheaper than going through the dealer? My understanding is that they're expensive.

It's an expensive car(when it was new), parts are bound to be expensive. It's under $200 from dealer and can be installed yourself in couple minutes.

Only the dealer has new oem parts. There are no cheaper places to get them, and no aftermarket options. You can try online dealers but those are still dealers so prices will still be in the same ballpark range.

Yes-- check the AZ sponsor OEM vendors, which happen to also be dealers in Peoria and Arizona or Florida, IIRC-- oemacuraparts.com and acuraoemparts.com (they are different companies).

The average walk-up dealer parts departments tend to charge a premium, but some will price-match web prices. There was a significant 30%+ price difference between the HFL price of a couple of local dealers and that of Acura of Peoria for my replacement HFL.

HFL Buttons not working at all

Had our daughter's "07 TL serviced for an oil leak and when we picked it up, the HFL buttons on the steering wheel were not working. Service Rep. relayed it could either be the buttons themselves or the unit. In reading previous posts, someone mentioned checking two fuses, #15 & 18 which control the HFL & radio, but it was referencing another model. Does anyone know if the fuse #'s would be the same or different for our model? Thought it might be worth trying before looking into buying a new HFL. If we need to replace the unit, any suggestions on cheapest place to look?
Worst comes to worst, she will just have to use a Bluetooth headset!
