hey guys problem with headlight, does the bulb need to replaced? *pic*
hey guys, i have an 06 TL with about 55K miles on it and my passenger side headlight turned deep pink/purple all of a sudden. its a stock headlight.
heres a pic:
do i need to replace the bulb? and can i replace with 5000k bulbs, since i asked the dealer and they said the stock bulbs were $200 each.
also what is the installation charge typically like? the dealer is asking $105 for installation of just one bulb, is that normal? seems kinda steep.
thanks in advance.

Dont spend 200 on a single bulb, buy two as well since they will be color matched that way.

I would replace the bulb myself but isn't it tricky? I heard that you can risk yourself to getting electrocuted.

To answer your question...I do believe this is typical when HID bulbs go bad. I had one with my G35 go out and it turned a dull purple for a few weeks before really going dim. LIke others have said, get two new bulbs and you'll be good!

Typical HID Bulb failure sign. If you want the best bulbs out there, the Brand new Philips 85122+ D2S bulbs (4300K) bulbs will provide the best light output while remaining factory white. You can buy these for 90 dollars from the retrofit source.
If you want to make your lights slightly less brighter, but bluer, go up higher in the Temp Scale to about 5000K or 6000K. I say stick with 5000K since it gives great output and great white color if you insist on upgrading. otherwise stick with the Philips.

I prefer to look for bulbs which I don't have to modify. So I am guessing as long as I get D2S/D2R bulbs I am good? Please help cause the retrofit word is scaring me LOL.
I don't mind spending the many on good bulbs, just want to make it painless as possible installing them.

Hey csmeance, thank you for your help. I do want to upgrade, I figure I might as well do something different with the car. Now if I buy the Philips bulbs will they fit out of the box or do they need to be modified at all?

The place that sells the bulbs, the retrofit source, sells top notch parts for headlight modifications for other cars. They are a great source for HID parts as well. Most of the folks that buy stuff from their know their way around projector headlights like the back of their hand.
