HELP! VSA/check engine problem

Hey guys, my vsa/check engine light has been popping on and off for a little while now, already changed the APP sensor and that wasn't it..the weird part is as soon as the lights pop on when driving my temperature gauge starts to rise all the way up but the car is not overheating..got codes 61-1, 83-1 and P0118. I'd appreciate any help, thanks.

How old is your battery?

I had this on my 04 MT when I gave my car to the shop and it sat outside in the winter and the battery was nearly dead. Probably not the same issue, but just a thought.

OBD-II Trouble Code: P0118 Engine Coolant Temperature Circuit High Input

The 61-1 open circuited In Driver Seat Belt Buckle Switch (you may need new seatbelt buckle, it's covered for life under acura warranty)

OR

The code 61-1 is for battery voltage low.

The code 83-1 is for Engine Control Unit failure or loss of communication.

sounds like you have a bad battery or alternator! Get the checked out at autozone for free!

Got the battery checked had 550 cca but I'll look deeper into it. The check engine and visa light is off at the moment but I know it will randomly pop back on soon..thanks for the replies

Even though the battery is outputting 550CCA, it could be a problem with the alternator not charging the battery sometimes or the battery loosing connection with a cell inside.

So the car went above its normal operating temp but still stayed under the redzone? Usually when a cars temp goes above its normal temps it's either a fan not working properly or perhaps a fan control unit going berzerk. Had a similar issue with my Jetta, temps would go above 90 but not max out, turn out the fan bearing was dirty so I took it off and cleaned it, greased it and save myself some cash.

Yes! Sometimes the lights will come back immediately, then sometimes it will stay off and the CEL will clear

I just had an issue like this for over a month. I could not find out what the problem was, as I was getting really random codes. About a week and a half ago, I realized that I had way to much pressure in the tires. I reduced the pressure to normal levels (around 230 kpa front/220 back) and the problem has not come back ever since.
