Help with trans

I recently got the transmission on my car rebuilt, i paid $800 with 6 month warranty. The transmission is very smooth and the car feels like it has a tremendous amount of power now but my only issue is that shifting from first gear to second is a little rough unlike the other gears, i notice this specially when the car is cold. The mechanic (who I've known for years and has done other transmissions on other cars for me and has done many 2G and 3G TL's) told me its normal he even opened up the tranny and told me its in perfect condition he used the regular Honda fluid. Would using some Redline fluid help this harsh shift? Ive used Redline before and my results were very good, the shifting doesn't bother me all that much but id like it to be a bit smoother. Oh and BTW obviously the pressure switches are brand new, I'm not sure if my mounts have been replaced but also don't know if this could have anything to do with this issue.

first off, thats seriously cheap for a rebuild..where did you get this done at?

I had my tranny rebuilt 6 months ago and i was experiencing the same thing. My mechanic told me after putting some miles on it, it will 'break in'...im not too inclined about how trannys work but after a few hundred miles all gears shifted pretty smooth

my advice is use it around the city for some time, if it still is harsh after a month or so..id take it back to the mechanic

Around the NJ/NYC area transmissions rebuilds are extremely cheap when it comes to american/japanese cars. I got it done specifically in the Bronx at a place called "Raymond Transmissions". I hear some people pay up to $2000 for a rebuild which is ridiculous considering the prices around my way. If you think thats cheap you'd go nuts after i tell u how much i paid for the car (bought it with a bad trans). As far as the "break in" period i hope you're right about that, I've only been driving it for about 3 weeks after the rebuild and it doesn't seem to be changing but then again like i said if it stays like this i can live with it. Just wonder if that Redline or something else would make any difference.

dam..good to know..i paid 1800$ for mine in toronto..i took it to multiple shops getting quotes ranging from 2-4k

since you bought the car with a broken tranny, id imagine you arnt familiar with how the TL shifts to begin with, this car does shift a bit harsher than other cars...plus 1-2 gear issues are not common at all, im thinking that maybe you just arnt used to the harder shifting and there isnt anything wrong at all

are you noticing hesitation, jerking or a sloppy 1 to 2 shift? my 1-2 doesnt shift perfect so maybe your just a bit paranoid, considering you have replaced the pressure switches

No theres actually no hesitation or sloppiness at all its a quick shift but theres definitely a jerk there when the transmission is cold once it warms up its fine, its not just all in my head but like i said it could be normal. I really appreciate your help.
