Help, steering wheel locked

its probably something simple and im surely gonna feel dumb but i rather be sure and ask, so here is the thing.

i was gonna change my hid bulbs for 6000k's and so i turn on my car and then turn the steering wheel all the way to the left, and when i do i shut it off and took of the key, they i hear this click sound thingy, and now neither the steering wheel or the key will turn, it just beeps.

so im guessing is the locking system of the car but how do i disengage it??????? i been trying for like 10 - 15 minutes now and nothing.

Thanks in advance.

like most cars...the steering column will lock.
you need to turn the wheel left and right simultaneously turning the key.

This tells me that the steering column is simply locked.
wiggle the steering wheel left and right while turning the key.

yes it has but never like this dude, it just wouldn't budge at all, i tried for almost 30 minutes until i just i just wiggle like jusntspace said and pulled as hard as i could on the steering wheel to the side of the wheels and it unlocked.

my previous car was an a4 and it happen to me but it was easy to unlock and the steering wheel would move a little, here it didnt move at all the only thing that moved a little was the key which i wiggled.

Before you turn the key, turn the steering wheel more in the direction of the way it is going (i.e. if the wheel is turned right, pull it more to the right and vice versa for the left). I used to always get fustrated with this until the dealership explained it to me. It may be hard to turn but it does work.
