Help: P1743, p1745, p1780, p0757
I know it’s a lot, but I’d appreciate the help if anyone can give me a nudge in the right direction…
Long story short, I got this car from one of those side of the road buy here pay here dealers and this car has been nothing but one problem after another…
I’ll admit I made a poor decision but I can’t change that now. Looking for some advice on both HOW to fix this and IF I should fix these things. (Basically should I fix the solenoid or do the whole transmission?)
2007 Acura TL purchased 1 year ago for approx $9,000. The car is paid off.
Side notes: I feel as though I don’t have much choice but to fix this as I’m a bit financially strapped and my credit is such that I can’t finance another car right now.
I do have a 2001 Acura CL with 265k miles (great car, purchased from CarMax and drove it for 17 years with no major issues until the engine blew last year) sitting at my parents house that should work if I swap out the engine. I haven’t sold it yet mainly due to the unknown saga of this crazy TL I’ve got myself wrapped into.
The TL was starting to drive better and had a few more planned repairs I was going to do. Cosmetically the car is a 9/10 inside and out (besides the cracked dashboard) and has 136k miles. At this point I plan to own the car till about 225k miles which will take 5-7 years to reach I think.
I was exiting a major highway the other day and the car felt like it downshifted from 5th to 3rd or 2nd and wouldn’t shift very easily after that. Doing around 50 mph and the car was stuck around 4500 rpm. Apparently the car went into limp mode and I drove it cautiously the remaining 10 mins home. These 4 codes come up and wondering if I should replace the parts that are associated with these codes or replace the entire transmission? (I genuinely don’t know much about cars so forgive me if I’m asking a lot.)
P1743 Shift Error K
P1745 Shift Error M
P1780 Shift Control System (Transmission Default Mode)
P0757 Shift Solenoid Valve B Stuck On
(I have a friend who can do all the work so I will not be paying dealership repair prices.) These are the repairs I’ve already made on the car in the last year.
Repairs completed…
$550 - Intake Manifold
$160 - Purge Valve
$1,380 - 4 Michelin Pilot Sport AS4 tires
$75 - Exhaust heat shield
$900 - Front and Rear struts
$330 - Harmonic Balancer
$400 - Starter
Planned remaining repairs…
$500 - Lower control arms
$500 - Power steering pump and rack
Whatever info anyone can offer I’d greatly appreciate it.
