Unhappy Help! Not starting/stopping while driving!?

Hello, my 92 Acura Integra LS Manual Transmission car is having problems!! When the weather is hot (or the car gets hot if it's been running a long time) sometimes the car will not start. It often takes multiple trys over a half hour or so. Sometimes now also even while driving the car it dies and then will not restart for some time!

I can hear a sound (the fuel pump?) when I turn the key and it DOES start, and I do NOT hear that sound when it WON'T start???

I have replaced the main relay and also the ignitor/distributor/cap and it is still happening. I have been advised that it is unlikely that it would be the computer because these computers rarely fail or have problems. Could it be the computer, wireing, the fuel pump, or ?????

Also just in the last few days I tried turning on the AC to see if that helped and I noticed that the A?C kicked the fan on!??? But more strange is that when I turn off the car the fan turns off! It will not stay on? I mention this incase maybe these would all be related or help solve the mystery!!??

Anyone out there experience this before or have any insight or advice? I really appreciate anyone who takes the time to reply and try to help! Thank you!!!!

Was the main relay new? Was it OEM? Did it fix the problem for awhile? Reason I ask is because I had this problem on my old EG and bought a new OEM relay and the problem was gone all together. You can fix the relay by just resoldering the insides but for me it was less of a hassle to just spend the $30 and replace it. Thinking maybe you got a bad main relay.

If it wasn't the relay you would hear the fuel pump turn on unless of course the fuel pump was/is bad. Yet I wouldn't think that it would be intermittent. Main relays are affected by heat.

So I would try a new main relay and if the problem still persists replace the fuel pump. Both of which are easy to do.

Get the battery checked out first.

It's not a battery issue. It's either the main relay (i'm thinking he got a bad main relay) or the fuel pump. It's a huge problem on older honda/acuras.

I don't think it's the main relay. Those symptoms sound like it could be the ignition switch. I doubt that it's the fuel pump, but u could just have the pressure checked on it before actually changing it. If u don't mind, once u get the problem fixed, post up the results.
