Help! No A/C....

A few months ago my 2004 acura tl a/c stopped working. Nothing but hot air comes out. I did the climate control self diagnosis and code "Q" showed up. It means there's an open or short in the passenger side mode control motor circuit. The next day I tried to do the self diagnosis again and no codes showed up but there is still no a/c. Does anyone know how to fix this problem.

I don't mind not having any a/c it just sucks when it's raining outside and the windows gotta be up in this 90 degree weather.

First item to check is to see if refrigerant is in the system and the PSI when off. You could quickly hit the Schrader valve to see if refrigerant is expelled, and the force of same.

turn car on, turn a/c on

does clutch engage? if not check r134a levels. not uncommon to take a rock in the condenser and then it all leaks out. I just repaired my CL-S for the same thing last year

Does the AC clutch engage?

Do both fans turn on?

Either way you still need to hook it up to a AC machine to see the problem.

There is nothing you can do at home unless its a AC clutch relay,etc....

as other posters have said the A/C can be hard to troubleshoot without gauges. The only thing I can suggest is to turn on the A/C and listen to hear if the compressor engages when you turn on/off the A/C.
