Help Adjusting Parking brake

How do I safely remove the cover under the center console to access the adjusting nut?

I kept prying at it, but it would not budge, does the whole center have to come out?

TIA

After removing the rubber bottom cover, there is a plastic cover with tabs. Push in the tab and use something to pry it open.

First, make certain the shoes are adjusted properly.

Yeah, I'm gonna adjust from the rear first, I'm down to the last click.

I guess I'm not pushing hard enough into the tabs, they didn't seem to want to budge.

Can we just adjust via the center console? I tried once to adjust it via the rear rotor and it made it worse hhaa

The adjustment needs to be done to both to work correctly. Someone did mine previously and never touched the inside adjustment and the car wouldn't hold on an incline with the lever all the way up. After playing with both its perfect.

So what exactly is the correct process? I looked it up on the service manual way back and didn't get it right

Adjust the rear shoes until tight against the drum, back off adjuster 8 clicks.
Lever should lock in 6-10 clicks.
If not, remove to access the adjusting nut.
Pull level up 1 click.
Tighten the adjusting nut until shoes drag slightly when the wheels are turned.
