Help

I accidentally put in 15fl oz of oil treatment in my 2008 Acura TL thinking it was fuel injector cleaning. What do I do? Is there an easy way to flush the tank?

Welcome to the forums.

Since this is a technical issue and not a "New Member Introduction" I moved this thread to the appropriate subsection so you can hopefully get more help.

Depends on the formulation. You might be fine. What exactly did you put in the tank? Call the manufacturer and ask them. Read post #9 of this thread:

Accidentally poured zMax engine treatment into fuel tank. Did I wreck my car?

If i were you, I'd get a siphon and start draining all that gas...

OP, you basically put 15 oz of mineral oil in your tank:

http://www.stp.com/sites/default/fil...2015-06%29.pdf

15oz in 17 gallons is 0.6%. Mineral oil is used in some fuel stabilizers. You might be fine, but I can't say for sure. I'd make sure the tank is full and see if you throw any codes or notice performance issues.

Keep us updated.

OP, any updates?

And make sure you're using Top Tier gas for at least (hopefully always) the next few tanks...

there is a drain bolt on the gas tank and if you can't locate the bolt then get some kind of pump and pump the fuel back out via filler neck.

:)

yeah it works great! Thanks for the help! I definitely siphoned the gas immediately. I've driven it with 2 or 3 tanks since then and hasn't had any problems. Crossing my fingers though!
