Heated side view mirrors button stuck?

Heres a picture of what I'm talking about but not my actual car. The item in question is the circular button with the mirror picture. Can someone confirm if this is suppose to be a button because in my car it seems like its pushed in and not "press-able". not sure if the previous know mistakenly pushed it and it got stuck. When I turn on the interior lights it does light on so I believe it works.

thanks for confirming.

Yeah, it's a push button to turn on/off the mirror heat. The light (orange, the small rectangle window in the switch, not the back light) should come on when the switch is pushed in. It doesn't move very much on my car, maybe about 1/8". Compared to the button on my car, it looks like it is out. When pushed in on my car, the bottom half of the button is flush with the dash.

ah - looks like i need to fix mine somehow.. should i just pry off that entire piece to reset that button or would that cause more damage? if the wires have some play and not really tight then i should be able to pry it off...

No! Remove the front panel (look in the DIYs in the Garage for scans) to get to the switch from behind the panel.

Or, you if you can just replace the switch. It isn't that hard to get that panel off and replace it. About $20. and a few minutes work. Good luck.

The "3G TL Garage". It's the last (6th) stick post in the main 3G forum.

I don't know where the diy is but the panel is pretty easy to remove. there is just one plastic screw/clip under it near the center console you have to remove and then you pull it right out. it is just snapped in.

this you tube links shows a guy pulling the panel out. just don't forget to get that plastic screw/clip out first.

I just had to remove mine last week to replace the bulb in the VSA switch. good luck
