I own before a 2005 TL AT, and now a 2007 TL AT wich reach now 40 000 miles. I have a rattling , grinding noise when a gear is ungaged at around 1800 RPM. I know for sure it's the FAMOUS heatshield. I do a research on the forum, but the search engine don't work.

SO could you tell me where is this Heat shield ? and what equipment does it protect ?

I'm going to acura tomorrow so i want to seem to know what i'm talking about

it keeps the cat from melting the underside of your car, the easiest fix is to wrap a stainless steel band around the cat and voilla, problem solved

but i think it's the heat shield on the intermediate shaft bearing, i found this information by searching manually
