I'm posting for a friend that has a 6 month old TL.

She was crawling along at about 5mph......and the road suddenly opened up. She punched the gas pretty hard and suddenly (practically flooring it) and heard a BANG (like a gun shot) come from the engine bay.

It's a AT 2006 TL if that helps.

Has anybody experienced this before? She says the car has been running fine since....and it doesn't look like it did any serious damage. I would be pretty worried however it it were my car.

Any ideas?

 

yep...several members have had this occur. kind of like a backfire or a pop from the intake or early exhaust area......happens rarely on wide open throttle....no worries!

Okay okay, in all seriousness, I've never had this happen, all it does for me when I do that is it spikes up to around 5000-6000rpm, whines, and then starts to upshift, but without a bang..
