Headlights Issue... Auto-off and Chime Alert

Hello everyone,

I have purchased a 2005 Acura TL (Non-Navi) and have noticed that when I leave my headlights on, there is no chime or alert indicating that they have been left on. I have searched the forums for how to turn this on, however, I only found a bunch of people wanting to know how to turn this feature off... lol. Normally I wouldn't care, but my last vehicle had automatic on/off headlights and I got pretty lazy as I never had to touch my headlight switch. Now I find myself constantly forgetting to turn off my headlights.

Which brings me to my next issue...

The chime thing probably wouldn't be a big issue if my headlights turned off on their own. From what I have been reading on the forum, all the 3rd Gen TL's have at the very least, the automatic OFF feature. However, mine does not! I have scrolled through the MID controls and there is nothing that says Auto Off Lights or timer delay.

Any help with these issues is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Phil

Just leave them on. When you lock your car or after certain amount of time they will turn off....in theory.

If yours do not turn off when you lock it or after 30 seconds or so....well, something is up with your car and I have no idea.

I would love to disable the chime as well. I have learned to ignore the chime. To note, if you turn the lights on after the car was turned off, they will stay on until the battery dies. If they were on when the car was running, they "should" shut off after 30 seconds or so or when the car is locked from the remote.....in theory.

Yea I figured it out... I always press the lock button twice, but sometimes the car won't make that beep noise. Turns out im double clicking the lock button and because i'm doing it too fast, the second click does not register. I locked waited a second and hit it again and got the beep and the lights shutoff. However, I just hit the lock button once, the lights will not shut off. I'm fine with that.

I'm still just curious as to why everyone else has an option to adjust the settings in their MID but I don't? And lastly, I wonder why my chime doesn't work... and now that I think about it, I have never heard my car chime at all, even when starting and having door open or anything...

I haven't messed with the MID in so long, I have no idea if I have a setting either. I just know a single beep will leave the lights on till the timer expires. Two beeps kills them instantly. Even no beeps will leave them on until the timer expires.

Have you actually sat there for 2-3 minutes watching to see if they finally go off?

I will try to remember to check my MID settings next time I actually drive my car.

Here ya go. There is a setting for sure within the MID that you can set the timer for the headlights. Mine is also a '05 Non-Navi.
