Headlight questions

I have an 04 TL A-spec and the driver side headlight seems to be working normaly, although the passenger seems to be working intermittently at about 20% working 80% of the time it wont turn on. I have taken the bumper off and I found a couple interesting things. I found a H.I.D controller, it doesn't seem to be stock? I unplugged both controllers and switched sides it gives me the same result, How ever when I unplugged it the driver side headlight and tired, it still came on as normal.

My theory is that the P.O had an aftermarket light kit and it started to mess up he went switched back to stock, and that's why the driver side will work regardless. I can not find a lot of info about the stock headlights on an 04, If some one can fill me in on any info I might need to know. Also, is that controller box stock? I think at this point I am going to switch the bulbs and see what happens. Lastly I see three areas on the headlight that will light up (corrner) (Projector) (Inside) neither of my inside lights will come on at all is this normal?

1. I found this H.I.D Controller

2. This is driver side turned on

try excanging the igniter, that most likely is the problem. i just did mine today, ebay has some oem ones for about $60.

What I would really do is I would look into some stock ballast and igniter and swap them out....

but you can also swap bulbs and igniters and ballast from side to side, one at a time....if the problem follows, you found the culprit....if not then try the next item....

^^^^ agreed. u could always look into a used ballast and try that. I had a similar problem with my oem setup and it was just the ballast

your ballasts are obviously good since you switched them and the right still works. take both headlight bodies off, that makes it much easier and u can plug in the wires with them off. switch the igniters, see if the driver side still comes on, if it does then switch the bulbs. u will need a fancy tool to take off the igniter and bulb covers, if u don't have one u can try a long nose pliers which worked for me. good luck!!
