Hi guys,
So it started about a week ago, my driverside headlight HID beam turned purple! and then yesterday the light started flickering when it was on, it didn't completely go on and off but raipid flickering and one time all of the sudden it just turned off. I turned off the lights and turned it back on and it worked again.

Do you guys know what the problem is?

Also if i have to get a whole new HID set, how much is the Acura one compared to aftermarket? should i just go with a better aftermarket one?

I have a 04 TL so my warrenty is over, i'm not even sure if the warrenty would even cover HIDs.

Please let me know your thoughts!

 

Sounds like either the HID is going out or something is loose. Could be something simple. Have you looked at it yet?

 

that means its a bad ballast for the HID. you can buy one from acura, and if you still have warranty it should be covered. If you do decide to get a whole kit, replace both bulbs since one will be bluer than the other since it colorshifted due to being used.

 

same thing happened to me it was just the bulb.

 

That's definitely a ballast problem. I had BMW HID projectors and HIDs on my Legend, same thing happened to me a while back. Replaced the ballast, everything back to normal again.

 

I'm having the same issue. Driving my driverside HID would flicker and turn off. I'd park and leave the car. When I came back the light would be back on. So concensus is it's either the ballast or bulb? How much can I expect to pay for a ballast?

 

I've seen used OEM ones go from $150 to $200 on ebay. There maybe aftermarket ones that would work, those would be cheaper, not sure which one works though.
