Hawk Hps Pads squeking??
I just recently replaced my stock pads with the hawk hps pads and broke them in properly..I have about maybe 100 miles on them and at low speeds when i apply the brake they squek pretty loud. A lot of members recommended these pads so i said why not and give them a try. Are these brakes meant to squek during the break in period?? Also add that i did not resurface the rotors.

did you at least CLEAN the rotors as the hawk directions specify?
If you did- then follow this expanded brake pad bedding procedure- it works well on hawks- which do not have noise when sitting on clean rotors and properly bedded.
I ran them on my TL- so personal experience talking~

If you did not clean the rotors with 120 grit sandpaper and a wash- start over and do it right this time!

Hmm, I never used any sand-paper on any of my aftermarket rotors, just soap and water, and wait for rust to appear... then bed-in them. crazy bite always followed.

Hawk is VERY clear about this- failure to remove old pad material by resurfacing or sanding WILL result in noises from the conflict of materials
Procedure:
120 grit sandpaper to both side of the rotor- with it off the car- then rinse with soap and water (use compressed air to dry fully inside)
or liberal amounts of brake cleaner spray to remove all grit from sanding
I use wet/dry sandpaper with wd40 and wipe as I go
You want spankin new clean metal on the rotor face for the new hawk pads-
If you had them resurfaced, just clean with brake cleaner and install
Grease the back of the brake pads with synthetic hi temp caliper grease, then go bed them per the instruction I gave- they are based on hawks way- just expanded on for better understanding of the process
These are not your grandma brake pads

update so i finally had some time and took of the rotors to be resurfaced the inside of the rotor didn't look to good so i had no other choice. Had them resurfaced and cleaned everything with break cleaner, i've been driving with the pads for about 150 miles thats with the resurfaced rotors and they are still squeking but its no where as bad as when the rotors were not resurfaced..hopefully the squeking will go away

now that the rotors are flat and clean- repeat the bedding method I gave you earlier in this thread. That should fix you up.

I bought hawks HPS b4 and hated the squeaking. After countless bed-ins it was still squeaking. I got tired of my noisy brakes and got some Rotora ceramic pads and couldnt be happier. They dont bite as hard as the HPS but dust is minimal and it does not make a sound when stopping.

I've read this complaint far too often.
Definetly NOT the pad for me- more trouble than it's worth, IMHO.

RacingBrake now has a pad for the Bembo equipped cars, as well as the regular TL brakes
See MrHeelToe for them- he is an acurazine sponsor www.heeltoeauto.com
ET300 for: the wife drives the car most of the time with grandma or the kids with her.
ET500 for: you are the wife- and you drive it like a sports car with good brakes!!
ET500 if you are the man who likes to drive in the backroads and test the limits of late braking into the corner.
Thats My opine on brakes

I don't know what it is with these pads? $125 wasted....rotors cut and cleaned and the bed in process done properly but there is still a very loud squek only when breaking at low speeds...through my experience with hawk hps pads i highly DO NOT RECOMMEND these pads!!

I seem to have the same problem as Roth203. Except when I took my rotors off to get them cut, the shop said they would be too thin if they cut them (but they are currently thick enough).
Anyone know where I could get some new rotors (other than the dealership)?
Also, I didn't resurface/wash the rotors before changing the pads. Is that worth a shot or should I just go ahead and get new ones?
Thanks.
