have any of you bent back or broken off the brake pad wear indicator
Ok so there is still some life on it. I've got the pads but haven't gotten around to changing them. In the mean time every time I brake it's like a ran over a cat. Annoying and embarrassing. I need to drive 150 miles today and don't have time to switch out the pads. Any of you just break off the wear indicator or bend it back so you don't get the squealing.

If you have time to take the wheel off and mess with the wear indicator, you've got time to change the pads. If your car has brembos, it takes 5 minutes per side, if that. If they are non-brembo, it doesn't take that long either for just a pad swap.

Well you need to do something because the more they squeek the more your messing up your rotors. Also, I dont recommend just swapping in the new pads without either replacing the rotors or get them re-surfaced. You will also want to do the proper pad/rotor bedding process as well.
-Drive the vehicle and get the pads/rotors up to operating temp by lightly using the brakes
-Once they are up to temp do 6-8 60mph to 10mph HARD braking sessions (but not hard enough to activate ABS) all right in a row and it is VERY important to never come to a complete stop during this entire process.
-After that continue driving preferably highway speed for about 10 minutes to allow brakes to cool properly. It is best to try and not use your brakes and if you have to use them do it very lightly.
I didnt just pull this out of my ass either it is the recommended procedure by all high end brake manufacturers and they claim it will provide you with quieter, stronger, smoother brakes. I did this process step by step and so far my new pads and resurfaced rotors are amazing!!

Pads take ~15 mins to change. It's easier than changing your oil, don't over torque the caliper bolts, they strip easily.

hey I need to change my pads today because they are making that weird noise because of the wear indicator and I am looking through a DIY and it seems very easy to do on the M/T. But it says I need that "brembo piston compressor"? why do I need that for?
btw I'm looking at Ron A's post "Brakes-caliper O/H,pad repl,hoses,bleed,disc specs,park brake adj 3G Garage #D-041 "
