Has anyone seen this happen to their leather? (pics inside)
When I purchased my TL-S, it had these annoying spots on the lower portion of the seat that I originally assumed were from something the previous owner spilled on them. I finally bought some Zaino leather cleaner and conditioner to try and get the spots off. However, the cleaner did absolutely nothing to the spots. I also noticed that the same spots are on the back of the seat, which rules out any spills from the previous owner. Looking closely, it almost looks like a layer of the leather has worn off, but it's very strange that it would wear off in spots like this. The car is still under warranty, so I'm going to get the dealership's opinion, but I'm thinking that getting the entire seat replaced under warranty might be pretty difficult.

Not sure what ya got there....looks like a sticky situation though
No but seriously...If you look closely it almost looks like its brownish which makes me think it might be a coffee spill or something like that. Not sure how coffee wipes up on our leather...but I won't volunteer for the cause

I have those too. Leather cleaner wont work. It looks like the top layer of the leather is peeling off. Nothing was spilled on my seats. But as time passes those spots are increasing on my seats cause constant use. If warranty covers that, that would be great. I should go ask my local dealer sometime since I'm pretty cool with the service manager there.

Is it possible someone left a soda can in the car on a hot day and it exploded? Could it be possible that some sort of drink left those spots after not being cleaned off for a long period of time?
Happened to me once. Damn that was a mess.

Bumping this because I have a few spots that look just like this--on the perforated portion of the seat only. Took it to an auto leather guy who does work for Acura, and he thought it was related to the seat heater element (He said he saw this a lot with BMWs). I don't know, but replacing them is very expensive. He encouraged me to have Acura look at it and maybe they might do some kind of courtesy adjustment.

Not sure but like another post mentioned it does look similar to mold. Had a mold issues on a white leather sofa I had in a Pack Rat storage container and that sh1t doesn't come out. Luckily had a warranty to cover it.

Why should they ? Looks like a spill
I found this to be the Best Conditioners and Cleaners, this stuff pulls the dirt/body odor, salt, and filth out of the leather.

Thats what I was thinking...because of the acid in the soda or window cleaner because of the ammonia.

Acura descriptions for the RDX state that "use of non-chromed tanned leather in leather-equipped models" is for environmental recycling reasons. Chromed leather is sort of (analogy) like painting, and is very impervious to staining, but will easily crack if the leather gets dry. The leather finish looks almost like, and is almost as durable, as the paint on the vehicle body.
I would guess that TL leather is also non-chrome finished, which makes it much more susceptible to staining. So, what is shown inthe posted pics may be mold, or simply a stain. To me, it looks like grease stains, but that is difficult to determine just from an online pic.
And before someone wonders how chassis grease formed those patterns, think in another direction: suntan lotion, body creame, etc. sort of 'spattered'. I am guessing that this is only on the driver's seat, and not any other seat?
Again, if a grease, either from a lotion or from food (cheeseburger), it will have been imbedded into a non-chrome finished leather, i.e., into the fibers of the leather.

I would certainly be interested in an eventual 'solution', for my own future information.
Check a book on home cleaning, for cleaning leather coats or purses or other leather items. I do not have immediate access to one of my DW's many such books, but I do recall that there is an entire section in one of the books on home-remedy cleaning methods for leather.

The several cracks in the pictures posted, may be simply from dryed out leather. I have noticed that my own RDX requires leather cleaning/ conditioning every 3 months minimum to prevent cracking/ creasing. Again, the more 'open-pores' of the RDX leather finish, versus the chromed finish on my Chevy truck, allows the RDX leather to dry-out much faster. I only condition the Chevy seats once per year, and they are 14 years old.

One other thing...leather needs to be taken care of...not sure if you are the original owner but if the leather was never cleaned/treated then it is going to fall apart. I use 303 on my seats every couple months and they are in pretty good shape for an 08, I don't think the previous owner did much to them. Plus, my car is garaged. Guess that is more than one thing.

Seat Leather Peeling
So, similar thing happened to my seat, but it started out as a small dark spot that got bigger and bigger.
The leather gradually got harder where it was dark and it's at this point now.
Any suggestions on fixes or preventing it from getting worse?

Yours looks like one big spot, my issue is a milder version of the first set of pictures--there are dark spots forming around where the perforations are. The spots are slightly darker, and are hardening where they have darkened (just like your problem). Could it be mold, or some form of leather (or surface material) failure? Why would this form primarily around the holes?

I usually detail and clean inside every 3 months or so...
It's weird how its most commonly on the passenger side and the perforated leather.
Acura said that they can replace the entire seat or there at companies that specialize in replacing leather..
