Grinding Noise?

I have a 06 TL w\ 34k and it makes this short grinding noise that happens only on acceleration once the trans is out of first and into 2nd. It mainly happens off of cold starts. I can also feel a strange vibration in the gas pedal when the noise / grind happens. The sound seems to be coming out of the front drivers side below the steering column by my feet. The noise is random doesn't happen all the time but mainly off of cold starts or if the car has sat for a while between trips. Once the car heats up its very rare the short grinding noise happens. I don't think its the trans there is no jerk or lack of acceleration it seems to shift pretty smooth. The dealer has visually inspected and run a diagnostic on it twice and they have come up with nothing, I just brought it in for a third look and its already been a week and they cant seem to pin point the issue. Any thoughts or suggestions?

On a side note, any one notice the color or the finish on the five spoke rims start to fade or become a bit dull toward the edges?

It's the ABS self test at 20 MPH, check out the 3G garage for some more info.

For the rims, its probably due to some tire cleaners that the finish is fading.

grinding noise

Thanks fellas. I dug through the other posts and have seen others have run into the same issue, but why would no one in the entire dealership not know the TL does a ABS shelf check as you guys state? Is this check mentioned in any any owners manual?
