Green Flashing Key Issue

Green Flashing Key Issue
My wife and I were out on Sunday and came out of a store to head home and our 2006 Acura TL would not start. I noticed a green flashing key on the instrument panel. I tried our other set of keys and the same thing happened. We looked online and have found it is an issue with the transponder key not communicating with the immobilization feature on the vehicle. I have seen posts that have referred people to the dealer to fix and I have seen posts that mention using a locksmith to reset the transponder key to the immobilizer unit. Can anyone provide some guidance on this issue? If I go to Acura I am going to have to pay for the tow, pay to have the diagnostic done and pay for parts and labor potentially. If I use a locksmith and that works, they will come to me and the fee will be less than having a diagnostic done. I just don't want to go to a locksmith and have it work for a few days and then have to go to the dealer anyway...Help

Flashing can mean several things but simply the computer say it's the wrong key.
To isolate the problem, make sure to stick in only the Acura key. If you have other electronic components on the keychain, it may have a false reading.
You don't need to make attempt to start the car to know it will work or not, just turn the key to III position (aka ignition position) and see. It will attempt to "handshake" the code reading; blinking is wrong and solid is right. The solid light will go away after it handshakes.
Very weird issue. Second time hearing about it but first with Honda. There are tools out there to read, reprogram/relearn the transponder but you might not have enough time.
If you call a locksmith, ask if he's able to read your vehicle's transponder. The software is called Honda Diagnostic System (HDS), btw.
