In the thread there is talk of some testing one member had done at 50K miles. I'm going to do mine this summer (somewhere between 20 and 25K miles). With GM on the rocks I'll probably buy 6qts of the stuff for the future. That should get me through as long as I expect to have the car. The stuff is already pricey and certainly won't get any cheaper. Not sure if shelf life is an issue but with my car the GMSFM is worth every penny. I'd hate to think we won't be able to get this stuff if GM goes bye bye.

I would say every 30-40,000 miles should be good. Most of the debris you are going to see on a drain is going to be visible in your first drain since that is when the synchronizers are undergoing their "mating" activity (no pun intended). I did mine after about 40,000 miles and it appeared to be in excellent condition with no gold flecks in the fluid. However, if your shifting technique does not include double clutching on downshifts along with quick upshifts, your synchros are going to wear more so expect to have more debris in your tranny fluid.

Just did my 3rd GMSFM fluid replacement. Been doing it every 30,000 miles. 7,000 - 37,000 - 67,000. Turned out that what came out this time was prefectly clean so now I'll go another 40,000 or maybe 50,000 till the next one.

I just went back and saw what I wrote could be confusing. My first drain and fill was at around 15,000 miles. My second one was around 55,000 miles. So I am in the 40,000 mile area. The last drain and fill showed the fluid to be really nice and clean.
