Gears sticking

I've had a clutchmasters clutch in for about 6 months. Yesterday I noticed it was hard to get in and out of gear. My shifter just didn't want to budge into gear. I restarted my car and the gears shifted smooth. Now the same thing happened again today! It was remedied again once i restarted my car. What could this be??

I wonder if the 6MT has any sort of pump to get the MTF flowing to the synchros.... IF so it could be a bad relay to that or something like that.

I don't recall ever seeing a pump for the MT fluid in my Service Manual. Also the synchronizers are immersed in the tranny fluid not to mention the fluid is constantly being stirred up by the gear sets. Does sound like he's got a problem with either the hydraulic system or perhaps his clutch is not fully disengaging. That would be easy to check. Just jack up the front at the center point then start the car and fully depress the clutch. If the front wheels continue to turn, he's not getting full disengagement. That would point to the pressure plate of the hydraulic system.

Thanks, i'll check this tomorrow.

Why would this be an intermittent problem only, because otherwise it drives fine.

try this, it sounds stupid but try it. Put the car into first gear, then put it into reverse, and then back into first gear. The NSX's have an issue sometimes and drivers do this to find that it's gone for the time being.

So the clutch is still inconsistently not fully engaging/disengaging. When it's in drive sometimes it doesn't let you pop it out of gear and when I push the clutch pedal in the RPMs won't drop. Or when I come to a complete stop the car will continue to roll forward. Also, if i'm in neutral it won't go into gear unless I restart the car. Could it be a loose/broken spring on the hub?

So this happened for a couple days, but now it's driving just fine!! I'm going to have to drive a couple hundred more miles and see what happens.

What you have described in your first paragraph is a classic representation of a clutch which is not fully disengaging. The fact that it occurred leads me to believe it will occur again. And these things always seem to happen at the worse times. Get it checked out and fixed if you can. It is not only frustrating but it can also be a serious safety issue.

BTW, you can't put a manual transmission in "drive".

Yah, I meant when it is in 'gear'. I'm just not sure why it is happening inconsistently. I want to get it checked out but I was trying to avoid pulling the clutch out bc that's a big job.
Someone told me they were able to pull/replace the clutch on an accord without pulling the entire tranny, but rather unbolting it and sliding it over, wonder if that is possible on a TL...
