Gear Whine and Slippage
Gear Whine and Slippage
I recently purchased a 2005 TL. This is not my first Honda product but it is my first used one in a few years and I haven't experienced these issues with past products (Accords, Odysseys, Integras etc). While I am generally very pleased with the car there are a couple of items that appear un-Honda like and would appreciate some feedback from forum experts. Both items are transmission related but apart from these issues, the transmission behaves normally. The first is a gear whine that I occassionaly get when the car is travelling between 40 and 50 mph in 5th gear (Car is an automatic). When I gently get on and off the gas, the whine comes and goes. Is this normal? The second issue is where the RPMs will occassonally fluctuate when the torque converter engages and I am again travelling between 40 and 50 mph. It is more pronounced when it is wet?
hi and welcome to azine. For the RPM flucuation, its a known thing that isn't harmful really, the car shifts into 5th gear a bit too early and that causes the motor to lug. This may be also related to the whine you have.
