Gear selection indicator light

Hey guys sometimes, not very often, but sometimes when driving my gear selection light blinks or goes completely dark. I have a 5AT, tranny problems? Anyone else experience this?

If you try to shift into an improper gear (i.e. over-rev, etc), the number will flash and then stay in the original gear.

Is that what you see?

You are correct, that a flashing gear number ("5" or "D" ??) was a sign of tranny trouble in the 2G.

I just see the indicator light on the dash blinking or going dark, no real change in speed or any drop off in acceleration, the light just blinks every now and then. Not in Sport shift either.

going on a limb but I would guess he drives an 04, might just be a short in the gauge if there is no speed or rpm drop, any front end accident history?

Just had a front end collision with an 18 wheel tire two weekends ago. new bumber put on at a seemingly reputable body shop.

I guess i could take it to the dealership and let them check the guage to see if there is indeed a short.

Could it also be a possible fuse issue?

I am suitably impressed.

Any recommendations on Wednesday's PowerBall numbers?

blinking light means transmission faliure. Take it to a dealer to have them diagnose it.
