gas pedal loose?
got a 07 type-s a/t n the gas pedal seems loose.
what i mean by this is, (and i'll try and explain this the best i can), at the top of the gas pedal, where your toes would sit, is a small cylinder bar that holds the gas pedal in place <-behind the pedal itself, at the top.
if you grab the pedal, you can shift it from left to right about a 1 1/2" each way.
it seems to me that the gas pedal should be tight and secure, with no play from either side.
anyone else ever experience this issue, n if so, what can i do about it? when i feel around the cylinder with my hands, i cant feel any threaded holes for a screw, or really anything that i can tighten, etc etc.
any help is appreciated. tia

^that thread is talking about problems pushing the gas pedal to the floor, and not accelerating right away.
my problem is that there is loose play from left to right, not top to bottom.
i can grab the gas pedal, and move it from left to right, i feel like it should not move at all from LEFT to RIGHT.
pedal goes to the floor just fine, no problems accelerating, just an issue with the pedal shifting from left to right.

bump.
anyone else know what the problem could be? has anyone else's gas pedal ever been able to shift from left to right a few inches each way? is there something that holds it in place? it's hard for me to tell bc i can only see so much down there in such a tight spot

go to the dealer and ck out another car of your year on the sales lot, or ask the service manager to let you ck a car in the shop
There may be a service bulletin on this- have you looked in the TSB thread?
Doesnt seem like any movement side to side is acceptable- could result in becoming a toyota in a hurry
thats an electrical signal generator, not a `cable` like older TL-gen2 have
fly by wire for gen3

It's accessed through the 3G Service Dept thread, and is here:

You have an odd issue that I haven't seen here on AZ before.

yeah the bottom of the pedal is secure and fine. its just the top of the gas pedal, on the top back of the pedal, where that cylinder holds it in place, i get movement from left to right about 1-1 1/2" inches either way. can't really feel it when driving, but i am taking it by the dealer this weekend to get it looked at.

i went and checked my pedal i have the same car 07 type s ... its firm no shake from side to side, so sounds like you may have a problem. is it really moving inches from side to side?

thanks for checking out your pedal on your 07 type-s.
yes, at the top of the gas pedal, where that small cylinder shaped piece is behind the top of the pedal (holding the pedal in place), i get a little movement from left to ride. i can grab the pedal and move it from left to right about an inch or so each way. but i cannot see where anything has snapped off or screw holes missing, etc etc.
for now i just ziptied one side of it to keep it secure. i will end up going to my acura guy and seeing what we can do about it, just haven't had the time recently. maybe this weekend.
