Unhappy Frustrated with my TL

Hey everyone!

First of all let me start by saying I have loved Acura for such a long time. I remember when my dad got a pearl white 02 tl type-s with black interior. I was IN LOVE with that car. It had problems though, and the transmission needed replacing at only 30,000 miles. My dad was done with Acura at that point, and later traded it for a Mercedes which he loves. I, however, wasn't done with Acura, and fell head over heels for the 3G TL when it came out. I had an 05 silver tl, and now I have a MRP 07 Base with 41,000 miles...and I am now under my Acura certified warranty. I have slowly grown ill with Acura.....

Question: Are TSB's covered under the Acura Certified Warranty?

My current problem list (please help if you know fixes)[LIST][*]Silver finish on drivers side door handle flaking off[*]Creaking sound coming from front right wheel area? It seems to be worse on rainy days, and when coming to a stop or accelerating from a dead stop.
  • Belts squeeking when the car is cold, and really badly when it has rained.
  • Leather looks like total crap, even though I properly maintain it.
  • Subwoofer rattle DRIVES ME CRAZY
  • I always have to keep the sunshade closed because the sunroof makes a rubber creaking sound possibly from the weatherstripping.

For a $33,000 car...I NEVER expected this kind of crap. I have always stood behind Acura, but all of these problems make me want to get rid of this car and never, ever buy another Honda/Acura product. Does anyone out there feel this way too? I am 5 seconds from calling Acura and complaining...but I know it would do no good at all.

Have you had a mechanic take a look at the wheel alignment? May be you need a rotation. As for the Subwoofer prolly a screw came loose in which it can easily be tighten. As for the sunroof i never had that problem. The 3G TL leather sucks ass is weak as hell. As for the belts squeeking i pretty much have the same problem and i took it to Acura and they replaced a pully.

My subwoofer rattles also. Drives me insane. I brought my car to my Acura dealership's service department and they told me that there was nothing they could do about it. I'm looking into it and hopefully will find a way to fix it myself.

You guys, there IS a fix for the subwoofer. My dealership took out the back seat and tightened the screws for the seat belts-no more rattle.

Ana, don't let your dealership "get lazy" on you!

For the subwoofer problem, I just stuck paper towels in between the glass and rear deck problem solved. Been rattle-less since I've done this and sounds so much better.

I also did the subwoofer fix. I stuffed clean socks in some hidden empty spaces and the rattle went away. There Is a link in the garage I think. No more rattle and it took 5 minutes

Yeah I agree with the 30k car comment not needed to be stuffed with socks to be rattle free.. but at the same time lets face it we all bought Acura's due to it being a budget friendly luxury car that is a step above Camry's and Accords but not on par with the Lexus, BMW, Audi, Mercedes vehicles. We should expect these little problems.

With that said.. we get an affordable and reliable car but with a few minor kinks which can be easily addressed with some due diligence. Now...get to work...

Nope... you read correctly. I'm not claiming Lexus is perfect.. cuz no car make is.. but are they more reliable and less problematic than Acuras. Absolutely. We have 3 Lexus's and a TL in the family. They all have their rattle issues and minor quirks.. but as far as major mechanical failures .. only the TL goes in for that type of work. Same goes for Toyota vs. Honda. Toyota/Lexus "overall" have better quality control than Honda/Acura and it shows. With that said.. they are absolutely not fun to drive but to cruise and ride around are awesome.

haha no way, last i heard was a few Camrys running onto the walls because of their accelaration issues. Lexus is alright but to me they're pretty much right on the same level as Acuras since Lexus is the high end cars of Toyis!

Shin Etsu grease for the rubber squeaks. Clean the rubber and apply a thin layer.

Subwoofer rattle: There is a TSB on this you can print off to show dealer there IS something they can do about it.

Scroll down to #1 TSBs Info and follow the instructions.
For the belts, replace them or lubricate them with belt dressing. If you still hear noise, investigate the pulleys.
It sounds like most of your issues are maintenance related, minor and easy to fix.
If you don't like your dealer, go to another one.

If the car is under warranty, take it to the dealer for repairs, bottom line. Agree with Mr. Bell. Had the subwoofer issue, they fixed it. Insist on a new loaner while the car is in for repairs. All of these issues are fixable.

Dont feel bad, while my 3G TL does not do any of those, my ISF sunroof shade has to be closed too since it rattles/creaks if the shade is open and you are trying to drive in "silence" No car is absolutely perfect in everyone's eyes all the time ..

TSB's are covered under certified warranty.

My dealer has replaced the rear shelf 3 times. Yes, a new one each time, and it started rattling again. Although my certified warranty has ended, my dealer puts a new warranty on their work so it keeps getting extended. I am going to take it in again.

Do you hear the creaking noise when you turn? That could be the CV axle problem, which should be covered under powertrain warranty.

Every car rattles. My dads Mercedes that cost something like $50k has rattles. At least the maintenance on my Acura is a fraction of what he pays.

That's going to be an infinite amount of time wasted, there's no perfect anything. Everything decays. Tear and wear is physics.

i believe some of these guys should be more appreciative towards their cars. At least we're lucky to have this luxury unlike a lot of people out there that can't afford a car or even food to provide their family. As long as the car is reliable and it delivers what it was paid for it should be an OKAY

The Leather in My TL was replaced free by Acura and after 6 months of properly maintaining it it cracked. What I have found is that the Tan color Leather cracks no matter what. if you have the darker colors they are not as bad. the best leather protectant I use is Lexol, use a sun shade and I use seat covers to make sure my leather stays good it's the only think you can do.
