Front tire blowout at high speed...Problem?

On friday evening I was traveling at about 75-80mph when my front driver side tire blew out. (Bridgestone Potenza G 009 235/45/17) The tire completely shredded and my TL eased to a stop on the side of expressway on the bare rim.
Right away I noticed that the Caution, VSA, and ABS lights all came on the dash.

After spare tire was put on and I got the car in the garage, I noticed inside the wheel well there is a wire that is severed. (Im guessing this got cut by the shredded tire slapping against the inside of the wheel well at 80 mph)

Yesterday I ordered a new Rim and Tire.

Does anyone know what wire this is? Or how big of an issue this could be?
Im guessing it is something that has to do with the Vehicle Stability Assist??

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

ABS? Check the ABS sensor mounted on the knuckle and follow that line.

with those warning lights you can guess the answer and follow the wire- replace as needed
probably thin wire internally

when I saw the thread title `at high speed` I was thinking 100-130mph with an exciting story!
Dont remember a flat Ive had at less than 80~
On the racetrack of course

i agree, i saw this and thought wow interesting story. well dont get me wrong OP im glad ur ok, its just that 75-80 for me is when im not in a hurry for work or when im close to empty and dont feel like pumping gas until the next day. and yes i have had a blowout at about 85mph on a bmw 528i and i kid you not i felt nothing i only heard the tire knocking loudly on the fender well, and of course the warning light on the screen. but then again that was the rear tire not the front. ive had my share of blowouts but never a front tire. ive heard they feel worse.
