Front Passenger Window Messing Up

Ok as of this morning (in a rare February Indiana rain storm of course) my passenger window decided that if it rolls all the way down and you try to roll back up. It expose about 2" of glass then start going back down again on its own. After about 10-15 tries it eventually went up as it should. Anyone else experience this? This now occurs EVERYTIME and not just a one time huh kind of thing. I'm getting ready to order some other small parts and if I have to rip the door open I would like to know what I might need...

P.S. I have no idea why my daughter felt the need to roll down the window before anyone even asks...

sounds like the window motor is failing and/or the window itself is off track. both parts aren't too expensive so that's good.

i'd start with the motor first, based on your post.

You can try cleaning the glass really good first. The window might need to be reprogrammed at your dealer or it may need a window regulator. Hope this helps ? If you need any parts we have really good prices too.

It does eventually go up fine so I figured being off track is not the issue. Reprogrammed???

reprogrammed?

no. like we both said it's probably the window motor/regulator crapping out. do a search, you're not the only one who's had this issue in the 9-10 years this car has been out.

Try to reset the window:

Window Reset Page 22-224

1. Turn Ign switch on

2. Move the driver's(passenger's) window all the way down by using the driver's(passenger's)window DOWN switch.

3. Open the driver's(passenger's) door.

NOTE: Steps 4-7 MUST be done within 5 seconds of each other.

4. Turn the ingnition switch OFF.

5. Push and hold the driver's(passenger's) window DOWN switch.

6. Turn the ignition switch ON.

7. Release the driver's(passenger's) window DOWN switch.

8. Repeat steps 4-7 three more times

9. Wait one second.

10. Confirm that AUTO UP and AUTO DOWN do NOT work. If AUTO UP and DOWN work, go back to step 1.

11. Move the driver's(passenger's) window all the way down by using the driver's(passenger's) window DOWN switch.

12. Pull up and hold the driver's(passenger's) window UP switch until the window reaches the fully closed position, then continue to hold the switch for 1 second.

13. Confirm that the power window control unit is reset by using the driver's(passenger's) window AUTO UP and AUTO DOWN function.

If the window still does not work in AUTO, repeat the procedure several times, paying close attention to the 5 second time limit between steps. If it still does not work, go to B-Can System Diagnosis Test Mode A (see page 22-108)
