Front Passenger Wheel Vibration
i've posted before about this problem. when i lightly-medium accelerate, i get a vibration in my front passenger tire at about 20-25mph. It also vibrates between 75 an 80 mph. i don't want to take it into a shop and assume i have a certain problem when it could be something else. any suggestions as to what the problem may be?

1) wheel and tire out of balance?
2) bad inner CV joint = new axle
3) motor mount?
are you feeling the vibration through the car or through the steering wheel? same tires? new tires? recent alignment?
my first guess would be inner CV joint gone bad with vibration upon acceleration (i had this on mine), IF the wheels and tires are fine.

wheels and tires are out of balance. i had an alignment but they never really checked what the problem was. the motor mounts have been changed from the previous owner but i'm not exactly sure when. is it possible that it could just be the ball joint or would a new axle be a more likely fix?

the TL is very finicky with its alignment. its even more touchy about tires/wheels being balanced. did you get the wheels/tires dynamically balanced??? i'm gonna say most likely. get it re done. if that doesn't work, then you have to go to the dealer and have them road force balance the wheels and tires to make sure: 1) there are no bent rims, 2) there are no excessive lateral forces from the tire causing issues, 3) the tires are mounted on the wheel in the right spot...search hunter road force balance.
but with your description of when it occurs with accelerations at lower speeds...it seems like an axle issue (bad inner CV jt).
i went through this one....new tires, alignment==> vibration, RFB==> less vibration, but now felt through accelerations, installed new axles (i had one with a bad inner CV and the other a bad outer=click with turns)==> no more vibration with accelerations. still have a very subtle vibration with hwy speeds, but addressing that with another theory...

I bought a used 2005 TL with 87K miles, car vibrated after half tank gas and I had new tires put on it driving off the lot. ended up being 2 bent rims. So that issue was taken care of .
Then at any gas level the car vibrated between 55-70, constant vibration in the steering wheel and everytime. I finally got noticed by the GM of the dealership when I gave a very bad customer service rating and a little bad mouth of the technicians. The service manager tried very hard to say it was the characteristic of the car and he drove 2 other TL's with the same issue that he drove.
I told him then those cars have an issue and need to be looked at.
finally after 2 new sets of tires the issue has been taken care of.
I do not know the exact tire I had on before but it was the stock tire for the 05 TL they were using.
They replaced the tires with Falken 235/45ZR17 ZE-502 ZIEX
the car rides smooth now.
I still do not know how they can put a car on the lot with 2 bent rims and the tires were bald and expect someone to buy it like that.
Saying vibration is the characteristic of the vehicle is so LAME and if you can do not put up with it. Took me the complete 30 days to get this issue taken care of so was within the dealers warranty period of the car thank goodness.
So be cautious when buying a used car and thoroughly test drive.
Hope this helps someone.

I just installed new tires and had the same issue, the techs at the shop tried to keep the rims pretty by only putting weights on the inside ( static?) then I noticed shaking at 45 and 70+. When I told the shop of this they rebalanced them ( dynamic?) it took care of this issue, good luck. If you're in the bay area. I can let you know where I went.

Keben,
Have the tires rebalanced, I have had the stick on weights get thrown off on more than one ocassion if the tire shop doesn't take the extra minute to clean the wheel good before applying.
Now I always clean the wheels myself before going for tires and I take a sharpie and note the location and the amount of weight when I get home. That way if I notice an issue it is easy to tell if a wheel weight came off somewhere.
