My defrost has been failing over time.. instead of blowing from below the windshield it now blows strong out the two center vents above the display screen only. Tried a search and little came up. Any ideas please? Thank you.

 

your mode selection motor is bad and needs to be replaced. What year TL?

It changes the mode from front vents to dash, or to the the floor vents like for heat.

 

Thank you for the response! 2008.. Been a busy week. Is that motor behind the glovebox? I also read that possibly lubricating it may help.. yes/no?

 

lubricating/cleaning can help but that's not going to be a long term fix if the contacts/gear is worn out. It sounds like you need a new mode control motor:

I'm not sure if it's the driver side that controls the defroster but I can't find much info on it. Pretty sure it's above the gas pedal on the 3G TL also.

 

Thanks again.. looks like it's the driver's side motor.. I've had so little go wrong with this car..
