Question Four small (?) problems with '06 TL

Overall, I love my '06 TL, but there are a few things that are bugging me. It's not quite two months old, so it's especially strange that there are this many things I've already noticed with it.

1. The bottom of the back of my driver's seat has come loose and I can't snap it back into place. The bottom of it is just hanging loose from the seat. How do you clip it back on, or should I just let the dealer do it?

2. Twice now when I have turned a corner to the right rapidly the overhead lights come on briefly, and the first time the console "dinged" like I had opened the door! It doesn't have to be a high-speed turn, just a sharp one -- the second time it was turning into my driveway! Is there a record of loose doors on the TL, or is this just a sensor acting up?

3. The passenger seat squeaks and I have some of the rattles in the door speakers from the bass on some songs, like so many other people have reported. Do dealers really fix that sort of thing?

4. I noticed yesterday that the intermittant wipers seem to have a "bug" in them. If you put the intermittant wipers on to the second from last position they perform as expected. However, if you press down on the brake, when you let off of it the wipers will immediately wipe every time. Is this just a bug in some of the firmware, an electrical problem or what? (I am unsure if they display this behavior on other speed settings, that's just where I found it.)

Thanks,
Mike

Welcome to the forum. Sorry to hear about the problems.

1. See dealer
2. See dealer- first I've seen/heard of this issue at all.
3. Let the dealer have a shot at it since car will be going there anyway for 1 and 2. There is a thread on the fixing the seat squeak you can take with you too-- it's recent and in "Problems & Fixes".
3. Actually a design feature- engineers assumed you are stopped at a light while it's raining, so wipers activate to clear windshield immediately upon moving.

Well, I took in my TL and they took a look. They fixed the driver seat and the problem with the door, which was the striker plate on the door needing to be adjusted. It didn't please me that they disassembled half the electrical system to figure that out, but it's all good so far.

They didn't fix the passenger seat. I guess I'll get them to look at it when I get another oil change.

One more quick question: why does the loaner from the dealer have to be a TSX (other than they're cheaper)? The TL is the smallest Acura that I was comfortable in, I had to get my wife to drive the loaner and I drove her Camry. (On the upside I guess, she got an Acura for a day that by her admission, she "drove like she stole it".)

Glad the first two problems were dealt with, and a printout of the following thread may help your dealer analyze the passenger seat squeak next time and maybe save you a later return trip:

With loaners, it's usually availability-- At Santa Monica Acura in SoCal, first there gets the MDXs, then the TSXs, then you're on your own. Other dealers have TL loaners and/or Enterprise Rent-a-Cars. At least your wife wasn't stuck driving a Ford Focus or Kia...
