Fork, Front lower arm ,shock absorber problem

Ok so I removed my wheel and loosen the (16)14mm lock bolt that holds the shock to the lower control arm (which is # 12&13) and it was stripped, so I bought another lock bolt and it seems to go in all the way but does not tighten and just keeps spinning, and when I take it out it's not damaged, would I have to buy a whole shock absorber fork? Or would there be any other way to fix this problem?
This is off my 06 tl

You're lucky your bolt didn't snap like mine did LOL

1. Are you sure you bought the right bulb? Double check part numbers.

2. Another method which works is just make it a through bolt (buy a strong bolt!) and add a locking nut to the end. That's what my mechanic did. He also used red loctite on the nut.
It ain't coming loose on me heheh.

bulb?

That means you didn't strip JUST the bolt...you stripped the threaded end on the fork...IMO, get the original part, it has a groove in it and locks it all up and could lead to other alignment issues down the line if you rig it.

Not that yours is rigged, gp, but I'd go oem.
Buy a new 12/13 (left and right side?)

I was thinking the same thing about just getting a stronger bolt on nut, but at the same time I kinda want to get the oem part which is only about 68 bucks for each one and 5 for two locking bolts, but I'm broke lol so I might get the longer bolt with the locking nut at the end for temporary.
Also I was wondering y this happens? Is it due to pressure front the coil overs??

Did your bolt snap while you were driving? Luckily nothing went wrong while I was on the road cuz I always have my baby boy with me

Technically, IMO, nothing bad would happen from THAT particular bolt coming loose or snapping...all it does is keep the shock positioned in a certain way and keeps it in the fork. BUT, I have a feeling you'd have to hit a CRAZY bump at high speed to cause it to jump out (since it's hard to lift out even when everything else is unbolted).

^ Good information.

The shocks won't come off the fork. Think about the weight of the car on the shocks which are in the fork about 3" deep.

My mechanic said the bolt was there to prevent it twisting side to side (and the notch in the suspension is for the same reason too).

That's why even though my fork mount released the "hold" or the "pinch" but the bolt was still in there, I couldn't remove the fork from the shock.

Here's the big info:
I drove with the fork mount not pinched with the shock for weeks. I wasn't worried at all.
Now if my lower control arm through bolt broke, I'd never drive until I got it fixed LOL.

Some background info:
I was changing my suspension and the bolt's head snapped off when I tried taking it off.

Oh ok, I was a bit worried something bad would happend while I was driving, I ended up going to the dealer after skool and the mechanic tried to retread the inside but didn't work, so I ended up getting a longer grade 8 bolt and nut at the ACE hardware store and it works good. While I was at the dealer I was checking out the new TSX and they only had one there with the V6 engine it was pretty cool makes me wanna get one now that they have the V6 engine
