Fifth gear at 3,500 RPM and just 60 MPH? tranmission help
So here is the thing.. i was running on the highway like 60 mph.. i have a 2006 acura tl 5 AT. and everybody knows that this car is going like 1,700 rpm at 60 mph on 5 gear.. ok great...
Suddenly i was noticing that my RPM where getting up but my speed was the same.. then i got worried ..
I stand to the right and I see this smell coming from the front of the car... and i observe that a some kind of liquid is coming out near to the battery (appears to be the tranmission fluid) ..
the thing is i had to call a crane because my CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON!
Any suggestions?
By the way.. all the gears are fine.. i mean.. the cars shift from P to R, N, D , Sport Shift and L. but the gears are to slowwww like thinking too much...

what are those "three sensors".. ?
ok i have to say this.... I never had done a transmission oil fluid change or something that is related to the transmision because i bought this car last year with 100,000 miles and i checked everything with my mechanic and everything was just fine.. also the CARFAX was fine too.

It definitely overheated and puked from the vent tube near the battery.

While id agree that it seems like the fluid overheated, why is no one asking why?
Driving at a constant 60mph in 5th gear shouldn't boil the fluid
Rick, were you stomping the gas pedal during a hill climb, while towing your 4000lb trailer?

Im sorry about no answer before...
Well.. let me tell you guys that i had to rebuild my tranny. It had 190K. I will consider lucky haha.
I had not done the pressure switch change.. and also the pressure switches had 190K .. DAMN!.. well I pay 1,500 for the rebuilt and of course all my parts for rebuild were OEM.
Right now i did the pressure switch change and the car seems like new... i dont understand yet why HONDA does not make the tranny much easy in order to change fluid and filter?? anyone knows?? ..
BTW i am not considering my tranny bad.. i just had a high mileage.

To a certain point, yes. OP's situation could be a sensor, not sure. As far as maintenance on the tranny, Depending on mileage and previous maintenance for (if it's be done?). Also, if you have an '04-06, there is a filter that can be changed. There is a very good trannsmission thread on the main page of Azine, discussing all about the pressure switches.
