a few cleaning questions
Hi Everyone,
I have few questions on keeping the TL clean. I have an 06 6spd with the original 5 spoke wheels. I have read many posts saying how to prevent brake dust from staying on the wheels with wax or new brake pads, but how can you remove the stains that are already on the wheels? It seems no matter how hard I rub, there is still a brownish tint to the color of the rims in the front, especially in the corners at the end of each of the spokes.
I also have the parchment leather interior and can't find a way to clean the leather. I have tried several different products like Meguiar's foam leather cleaner and a couple other popular leather cleaners, but nothing seems to remove the dirt from everyday use. My passenger seats still look new because they are hardly used, but the drivers seat has dark stains from everyday use and everything I use seems to have no affect on it at all.
Thank you in advance for your help.

I use Woolite (~10 water to 1 Woolite, but you can go 5 to 1 if necessary) on all interior vinyl and leather surfaces. Then Megs Leather Cleaner and Conditioner.
I use Megs Wheel Cleaner and a wheel brush on the back sides of the wheels, then a couple coats of synth wax to make 'em easier the next time. If they are already stained/oxidized yellow/brown, not sure that much can be done for it.

For the leather, a 5 to one ratio of water to woolite works the best. For the rim's I use Zaino Z-7 and a good brush, that takes care off all the dust. you said you have a tint still, I would suggest using some polish on the rims, as they are clear coated.

in the off topic area, wash and wax threads- will be lots on info on rim cleaning
I use a liquid synthetic car wax on the rims inside and out, and touch up the outer with a liquid spray wax now and then- after wash
I didnt realize how slick and shiny they really are till I took pics of caliper today for another thread and saw them online- they look good! Thats on Enkei spokes- painted close to LGM, so a nice match to the car color.
If you are in doubt- send rim pics to Patrick of ExcelDetail fame- he is the master at reviving anything on the car!
There are many leather cleaning and conditioning products- do all the leather you can see, to protect and prevent problems later
