I was driving home on the parkway tonight about 70 to 75 MPH.
There was a loud exploding sound like a gunshot and I saw a bright flash flare out from under the hood. I thought it might have been a blowout at first and I pulled over onto the shoulder. It was pouring rain so I didn't stop. It didn't seem like the tire was flat and the engine responded. The gauges, air conditioning, turn signals all went dead and the dashboard symbols all lit up. Headlights worked.
Car started again when I got home. Its going to the dealer tomorrow but I was wondering if any one else had similar problem or knows what the cause may have been

 

hey, welcome to the forums. Thats, odd, a tl blowing up... never heard of that (except for the person with the acura with the snake in the engine compartment that cut it's head off blowing up)

 

Please post what the dealership found wrong with your car.
