Engine tapping noise when cold?

The garage is like a bathroom, everything just echos. My old CL-S valves would have a very audible tapping noise hot or cold when raising the RPM to 1.5-2k.

But is it normal for our TLs to make a tapping noise, almost slight faint knocking noise when cold (only raising idle)?
After i get home from work and raise the idle to 1.5-2k its gone.

Is it our thin oil weight? or just my car is F'd up.
I might want to try that LUCUS SYNTH oil stabilizer.

thanks guys.

Is it a lot of "tapping" (from the valve train) or "ticking" from an accessory drive/belt?

Does the tapping occur when the car is both warm and cold, or just when cold?

Its almost light a faint knocking noise, not the valves...the valves sound great. Only happens when cold.
like a doc doc doc doc. Increases with idle speed. Once warmed up it goes away. Could it be the mechanical lifters just seating in probably once all the metal expands?

Honestly, it sounds a little like piston slap. It's usually just a little more "hollow" sounding than a valve tick. Goes away within a minute or two of the engine warming up.

Some Honda 4 bangers are notorious for this but I haven't heard it in my TL. I would say it's nothing to worry about usually but since it's not common in TLs, it would be good to have it checked out.

How many miles on the oil and the engine?

kncking noise

Hi, my 06 tl made this noise since new, had service manager listen, also had acura rep listen, they adjusted valves to no avail. Rep said it was not a problem.I have 29000 miles now and the noise is not any worse, in fact i barely ever hear it unless i really try . I use mobil 1 5w20 and a honda filter. Like you it does not make noise when hot. I do have it in writing that it made this noise though .Have it checked out ,but i don`t think its a problem.

Thank you for a relieving response lol...it puts my mind at ease a bit. But it still seems very abnormal to me. I think i will try the LUCUS SYN oil stablizer in my next oil change and let you guys know if the sound is still there. Thanks guys.

I think I hear a faint tapping/knocking noise when I am cruising on the highway. I can only notice it when my foot is on the gas and just cruising normally. However, when I let off the gas pedal it goes away. The times I have noticed this is when been around 60 degrees.
