Engine Over-Heat....MisFires
Hey so I'm new to this forum but I've done a lot of DIY's and read up on a lot of great information. 4 days (Friday) ago my car overheated due to the fact that the reservoir tank cap and rubber hose connecting it to the radiator were cracked. After I was able to fill up radiator car had a slight vibration while in Drive but none at Park and Neutral (same night I added the 2nd dosage of 3qts Redline ATF into my tranny for the first time and replaced 3/4 switches). I was able to replace cap and hose a day later (Saturday). Problem seemed to be fixed until radiator was loosing fluid, subsequently having to refill with 1/4-1/2 a gallon almost twice a day until I was able to replace a bad radiator cap on Tuesday and also replacing the thermostat just in case. Yet that same day the vibration became very hard and the car would not start twice until the 2nd or 3rd try, engine light came on. Today I checked out the codes at Advanced Auto Parts and the codes for Random Misfire, and Misfires for cylinders 2,4,5 and 6 showed up. I am not seeing any white/black smoke from the exhaust although it does smell strong of gasoline i believe. Coolant level is slightly lower but visible in the radiator from the few times Ive started the car. And I'm not seeing any oil leak around the gaskets. If anyone would please help with any information before I head to the dealer would greatly help. Ive read a lot of information on here but not too many threads dealing with this same issue probably caused from engine over-heat. Thanks

easy - with the engine running and warmed up, pop the connector off each coil pack one bye one. the sound of the engine should change and the idle should become rough/change as you pull each one. replace the connector on the one you pull, and move to the next pack.if you remove a pack and there is no change in the way the car idles. chances are it a bad coil pack.

If you're lucky it's only the headgaskets. I would start with a compression check. Hopefully it's not the rings.
