Engine misfire... HELP
Engine misfire... HELP
I'll keep this short and elaborate when needed.
2008 TL Type S less than 65,000 miles
Always serviced at dealerships.
While driving approximately 65mph I felt an odd vibration, then the check engine light began to flash. After some time it stopped and came back on. lost power. Had the vehicle towed to a dealership. They told me the spark plug fell into my cylinder and broke apart, and essentially destroyed the upper part of my engine. Acura is trying to say it was "outside influence" because they have never heard of such a thing happening, and Zurich (the extended warranty company) won't cover anything because it was caused by the spark plug failing. Has ANYONE heard of such a problem? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

^all you have to do is prove that the spark plugs were never touched by providing service records.

as it is common.
Spark plug Number 5 the front middle one WILL eject.
the service records will indicate that NO ONE HAS EVER TOUCHED THE SPARK PLUGS, because they are supposed to be changed at 105k miles.
you're only at 65,000 miles.
also, sit with them and google J32, J35 Spark plug ejection.
thousands of results will pop up.
from pilots to TL's to any car that uses the J-series engine

Zurich is a piece of shit. I can't believe I wasted my money on that shit. I thought I was buying an Acura warranty. Not some 3rd party shit that will fight you on every little fucking thing, even if it costs barely $15 more than the deductible. Cunts.
That was young naive Vlad tho.
Anyway, justn's suggestion is spot on. The dealership should take care of you since you've had it serviced there AND bought their ripoff warranty. And whoever pays for the repair is between the dealer and the insurance (warranty) company. Sorry to hear about it OP.
Best of luck in your fight. Just remember the best way to get people to do stuff for you is to not be an asshole but be firm and polite at the same time.

I hope this is not what happened to me yesterday. Not sounding to good for me. My '05 base TL began to get this ticking noise at a light. The ticking was while giving gas even at a stop. I drove through the next light to hear what sounded like a hose bursting/ loss of compression. Saw my check engine light blink twice while i was pulling over. The car shutdown once i stopped. The check engine light never came back on after that. I found the middle rear coil blown out. Towed the car around the corner down the street to the dealership. I will hear what they say today. At least they were able to get me a loaner in the meantime. Fuuuuuuking Sh*********t!!!!
