Hey all,

I have 2007 TL, and i'm having a problem, when the car is cold it knocks like crazy until it reaches some kind of temperature... than the noise goes away. When I life the hood it sounds like its from the left side of the car, I have replaced belt tentioner because I thought that was the cause. Well it wasn't
I'm at 103k miles on the car timing belt is due soon. I don't know if I should trade the car in, and get something else, or fix what I have, I just don't know what could be the problem and how expensive it would be to get that fixed... Could it be lifters?

Any help would be very helpful if you have experienced that problem.

You replaced the serpentine tensioner. It's probably the timing belt tensioner. My car is having the same noise and I'm due for a TB job soon too. Do the TB job and I'm pretty confident the sound will go away

 

It scares the living out of me, thats something I don't wan't to deal with in a long run, Not having payments for the car is nice. Plus i Put in lots of work in to it.

 

I would say its your TB tensioner is bad, mine does the same thing and once I had TB/WP service the noise is gone.
