Electric seats

I have a 2005 TL. The electric seats only work with the switches on the side of the seat. It no longer automatically goes to the driver 1 or 2 settings. My mechanic can only suggest a complete replacement of the system. Any other ideas that would be less expensive?

Do the power mirrors work in all four directions, or in just two directions?
If the mirrors work in just two directions, it may just be a common fuse.

The power mirror actuators need to be cleaned. The DPMS (driver position memory system) is tied into the mirror actuators. If they stop working, the seats won't go to memory positions. If you search, there is a how-to on disassembling and re-greasing the actuators. If still not working, replace actuators.
